Cosmic upheaval. Political intrigue. Poetic protest. Year C’s Lectionary texts from the Gospel of Luke offer a rich treasure trove of wisdom, preaching material, and inspiration for a variety of ministry contexts today. With Advent around the corner, the time is ripe to (re-)encounter these Lectionary readings from the Gospel of Luke. This seminar explores the Lukan Lectionary texts by situating the Gospel readings within the larger historical, social, and literary contexts in which these texts are found. Whether you are a preacher looking to prepare your December sermons in advance or an avid student of the Bible – whatever draws you to Advent Texts from the Gospel of Luke – participants will leave the seminar with heightened understanding, prepared to engage in a wide range of ministry experiences.
